Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
Proverbs 4:26
and be steadfast in all your ways.
So Saturday morning I did a thing. It was actually harder than I had imagined – both physically and emotionally. But it was absolutely cathartic in its way.
If you look at the photo you will see that I moved “The path to next door.” This was the path that joined our home with the cottage my parents lived in from 2014-2023.
We sold the property (or at least we have a contract, and everything is now on hold for the state to recognize me as executor). So the path had to go.
Rather than remove it altogether, we have placed a garden bench near the boundary, and Saturday morning I moved the path, angling it to the left to loop around in front of the new seating area.
It absolutely works as a garden feature. Although Max is obviously a little put out by the change. And me too. The fact of it was a little more real than I had anticipated.
Communion of the Saints:
But then this weekend was World Communion Sunday. And I understood, in a powerful way, the idea of The Communion of the Saints. So I didn’t just – we didn’t just – have communion with Andrew and Alicia in Bahrain, and Naomi and Craig’s family in Orlando; we all had communion with Mum, and with Dad, and with my brother Geoff too, who passed from this life back in 2012.
It struck me – for the first time – that I was once part of an immediate family of four (mum, Dad, Geoff, me); and now I am the sole remaining representative of that long journey we took together.
Just processing things, sometimes one at a time, sometimes all at once.
Have an amazing new week. Peace and blessings – DEREK

Love your new path – and dog! May all your paths be blessed. Martha Huntley
