Being rushed by three grandchildren? It’s as good as it sounds!

Grandchildren are the pride and joy of old age, and children take great pride in their parents.

Ah, Central Florida “not in the summer” can absolutely be worth the drive down… even on Interstate 95. Because the second week in October not only offers some really pleasant weather but it also means our grandson David’s birthday, and this time he is 12 years old.

We met at Olivia’s Cafe in Disney’s Old Key West resort. Naomi’s family are taking advantage of Monday’s school holiday to spend the weekend there and make the rounds of the parks!

There is something wonderful about climbing out of the car and then being rushed for a group hug by three grandchildren! It doesn’t matter where: Disney… our house… their house… in the middle of a parking lot… just so long as we can spend some time together.

So we enjoyed dinner, then went back to their condo where we watched David open some gifts. We gave him a programable digital mask he had been talking about – such a 12-year-old boy thing! Check out this video of David delighting his siblings.

Generations:

– Beks, Naomi, Rebekah

People often remark at how much Rebekah’s grandmother Perkins’ good looks have marked the generations, and I wish there could have been a photograph of the five of them all together. But I believe this one does the job.

Rebekah (67), Naomi (39), and Beks (10). All channeling Grand Mae, who would have to have been 121 to have made this picture, and Rebekah’s mother Nell, who passed away in 1999 at just 73.

Geoffrey is the only blond in the Campbell family, and I wonder if he will look anything like me as he grows? He sure is one hard to contain ball of energy!

– at Old Key West

We are looking forward to seeing what Sunday brings. The grandchildren may be at Old Key West, but Rebekah and I will be starting our day in church.

Peace and blessings from Florida. And our most fervent prayers for peace to all the wide world – DEREK

Check out David’s satisfied smile as he listens to the entire restaurant singing to him!and also the delight on Beks and Geoffrey’s faces as David “scares” them with his mask!
