Hitting the road: #Footloose

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:34

Earlier this week Rebekah and I headed to Emerald Isle on a whim. There was space in the pastors’ retreat at the last minute and so off we went (you can read about it in the previous three posts).

Today we hopped in the Rav-4 and drove halfway to Orlando because we want to see our grandson David celebrate his 12th birthday. And you know what? We didn’t clear it with anybody. We didn’t make arrangements for anyone to be seen, fed, checked up on, or looked after. We just put Mr.Max in the back seat and off we went!

Do you detect a theme here? We are just footloose and fancy free! Then, last week we sat down in front of the computer together and said to each other, “Hey, you want to get out of town for something completely indulgent?” “Why yes,” we both responded. So next week we’re boarding a cruise ship just because we can.

– heading south

But I am getting ahead of myself. This weekend it’s Orlando. Today it was bad traffic on 95 and bad food for dinner at some diner. But no worries, Rebekah and I are “in the moment” for the first time since we can remember.

We are going to run with this while we can. As the disclaimer so often goes, “conditions subject to change by management without notice.”

Peace – Derek
