I am not sure if the perfect day ever transpires; but yesterday – Sunday April 14 – had to be a pretty good approximation!

- Wake up at 6:30 and walk Max around the Town Common.
- Make a pot of coffee and enjoy a relaxed breakfast with Rebekah.
- Walk across to church for a reception/class with new members.
- Talk about C.S. Lewis with one of the adult classes.
- Attend worship with beautiful people in our lovely sanctuary.
- Lunch with Rebekah.
- Nine holes of golf with a good friend.
- Pick up Rebekah and Max and on to our friends' home for the last few holes of The Masters followed by dinner. 
- Walk Max in the cool of the evening.
- Fall asleep reading a good book.

It was a beautiful North Carolina spring day; sunny, clear, everything in bloom, mid-seventies, birds singing their hearts out. The kind of day when it is easy to wake up with praise on your lips and gratitude in your heart.

This, regular readers and visitors too, is the sweet rhythm of life as I am experiencing it this year in Tarboro. The simple blessings of faith and community.

Faith and community… and work, I do actually plan to work today. But there is something compelling about a different focus on Sunday, especially in the context of our church family. This is how and why we were created; to glorify and to enjoy God and to experience these blessings in community.

Personally, I believe that following God’s design and intention is a very good way to live.

“Now this,” God said in response to the work of creation, “this is really, really good.”
