New Every Morning! Light and life and beauty and promise!

– The Tar River, Monday May 20th, 6:51 am

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
 God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day. – Psalm 46:4-5

By a show of hands… who else was up early enough Monday morning to enjoy the sun coming up with such clarity that everything – the sky, the trees, the buildings, the river – took on a whole new shine?

Okay, I see a few! It was one of those mornings where I planned my usual walk with Max and had no intention of taking photographs along the way. But then I couldn’t help myself. Stuff just looks so beautiful in the early light.

So here’s the deal. I promise to stop posting pictures of the Tar River if and when I stop seeing new and interesting vistas. Fair enough?

Also, I promise to stop talking about the Good News the day I cannot say, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).

It is so good to be part of a community – Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church – where the Good News about Jesus is an invitation for everyone – no exceptions – to come home.

Peace and blessings on this day, another invitation to live – DEREK
