A Week in this Good Life (Photo Friday)

with the Robersons and the Brittains

I have taken a lot of seemingly random photographs this week that never found their way into one of the daily posts. Between them they do a great job of giving a glimpse into what was really an interesting week.

My favorite has to be the group photo from Wednesday’s impromptu tour of our renovation project. We’re calling it the first party at MaulHall St.Patrick.

We had enjoyed lunch with Edward and Susan at On The Square and then took them over to 408 for a look. That’s when the Brittains joined us and it turned into a party. It gave us all sorts of good feelings to share some of our excitement and our vision, and to hear our friends’ positive reactions.

Here is Rebekah talking with a couple of guys on the work crew as they scrape old paint from the siding, while another team is rebuilding the front porch.

Night-time photographs (above) are creative fun, and the shadows are always more intriguing in the cemetery (see the gallery). Then this morning’s collection is rounded out by fresh eggs from next door, the sidewalk behind our church, and an amazing meal at the Cape Fear Seafood Company.

Sometime this weekend I will try to fill in the details on our children and grands – but they are hard to keep up with right now!

For now, Friday June 28, enjoy these photographs and plan to have an amazing weekend.

Peace and blessings – DEREK

  1. MOVE is a 4-letter word that I do not like but sometimes it is necessary. I don’t know where your married life started exactly but know you lived in Pensacola, Brandon?, Wake Forest and Tarboro. Seems like you are not only downsizing your household but also downsizing where you live. A simpler, smaller community with all your heart desires. I don’t know whether this was a conscious effort but either way I wish you both well on your progress to live where you wish. Blessings.

    • That’s right. 14 years in Pensacola, 17 in Brandon, 11 in Wake Forest. Not a conscious effort so much as being steered by the hand of providence! This just seems right, and will give us the opportunity to hopefully be salt and light in one more place. Always good to hear from you, Colleen.
