Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice!
Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!
Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy!
Let the trees of the forest sing for joy
I will never, at least during this first full year of living here, tire of photographing the Tar from the bridge at Main Street. Thursday morning, for example, with the air cool and the river still warm, a light mist clung to the water like a thin veil. Hard to photograph but I did my best.
Then, walking Max late Sunday evening, making our way back from the Town Common down St. David Street, the sky looked stunning with the moon breaking through the clouds and underneath the live oaks framing the street in a perfect arch.
Of course we are still packing, and it seems that I have finally found a practical use for all the Tetris skills I developed back in the late 1990’s. One Toyota full at a time until we get to the bigger stuff, and always room for Max.
Which leads me to our Orlando grandchildren. Good grief. Such phenomenal beauty and handsomeness and adorability.
So happy Friday to everyone! And as we go into this weekend, a reminder to keep our eyes open for the beauty that always surrounds us, and to remember the undeniable truth that, no matter what our differences, there is so much more that unites us – as God’s children and as Americans – than there is to divide us.
In love, and because love is the only way forward – DEREK
