The same, only more so

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland. – Isaiah 43:19

– my friend’s Suburban is huge!

Other than the hard to believe fact that we are now in September, this week is shaping up to be a classic example of “The same, only more so…”

“The same” being packing up in Wake Forest. We arrived Sunday afternoon and the big plan is to have the house pretty much ready for market by the time we drive back to Tarboro Saturday… I guess we will see!

To that end, and with the help of a rainy morning keeping the sun off the roof and the attic not quite so hot, Rebekah and I took dead aim at one of our most daunting goals for the week.

– making progress in the attic

All that work plus the generous loan of our friend Chauncey’s behemoth Chevy Suburban made for some serious impact on the Herculean task. Well, we came close.

We (and by “we” I mean Rebekah) have the week mapped out. Monday – attic. Tuesday – kitchen. Wednesday – the bedrooms. Thursday – dining and living. Friday and Saturday – clean and photograph the house.

“But Derek?” I hear several of you asking… “What about the garage?”

To which I answer, “Where do you think the stuff from the attic, kitchen, living, dining, and bed rooms got stashed?”

– storage unit is shrinking

Of course we’re not there yet – it’s still only Tuesday. Plus I am making multiple runs to Goodwill and to the dump and over to our storage unit in Tarboro.

But stay tuned. I will try and turn our attention elsewhere for the balance of my posts this week; although I can’t guarantee much other than, “The same, only more so…”

One focus will be reporting on this morning, as I am driving back over to Tarboro for the men’s Bible study. Then – in response to what we are talking about over the next few weeks – I have this really exciting idea for a potential new book.

– thanks for the assist

So stay tuned. You never quite know what you are going to discover when you visit this blog space.

But for today, I pray that you discover peace, and encouragement and promise for the future. – DEREK
