Truth and Benediction: what better way to begin this week!

– September 29, 2024

Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:31-32

Today is the last day of the month, which means “September in 30 Photos” probably later today.

But for now I want to start our week with this benediction from Sunday morning (30-second video, below). Worship was a beautiful experience with inspirational music, great hymns, and a really powerful message from Rebekah.

I always enjoy worship in church; but there were a couple of extra-special moments this Sunday, where I felt the presence of God in a disarmingly palpable way. It was the combination – I think – of the message, the emotion captured in the choir’s rendition of Give me Jesus, the light illuminating the sanctuary, coming in through the stained glass, the presence of so many good people and a clear awareness of the simple truth, beauty and power of the Gospel story.

If you want to listen to Rebekah’s message – and I recommend it – (4th in her series on The Six Great Ends of the Church) I believe it is cued up at the scripture reading on this video link “The Preservation of the Truth.”

Finally, here is the benediction video I mentioned earlier, the sending out into the world. I hope you can feel the love and the faith resident in this beautiful community of good people.

In love, and because God’s love is – always – an invitation – DEREK
