This collection of September highlights covers a lot of ground: From Orlando (Naomi’s family) to Krakow (Andrew’s family) to Wake Forest (getting Maul-Hall on the market) to Tarboro (the beauty of the river, the charm of this town and the creative energy of our restoration-in-progress).

All in all, these 30 images make for a visual feast and the photographs – as well as the stories that go with them – are all well worth a second look.

We are thankful, too, that this end of our beautiful state did not see the catastrophic flooding that inundated our neighbors to the west. Folk here in Tarboro remember what happened in September 1999 all too well, and you can be sure there will be relief teams and aid in every form coming from this community.

So here’s to the new month, to new adventures, to new friends, to a cool clear fall and to love and respect – no matter where we stand on the issues that threaten to divide us.

In love and in care and in light of the words of Jesus, who said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
