The past week in pictures (Fall colors, renovation, river and food)
– low water in the Tar offers new views
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7
This week I skipped Photo Friday in favor of two short posts I think you will absolutely enjoy returning to if you missed them:
Then, in a 4-minute video post, a reading from my new book: “A good/holy laugh.“
10 Images for the week:
For Saturday, then, I will offer this gallery (below) of summary photos from the week.
I especially like the image of the bench out on the church grounds behind Rebekah’s office. The emerging colors in some of the trees remind me that it will soon be time to photograph our Tarboro neighborhood in its Fall costume and complete the four-season cycle of our first year here.
Then I walked around to the other side of the church to take a photograph looking in the opposite direction.

Signs of autumn are evident on my morning walks with Max, too, from Riverfront Park to the Main Street bridge to Saint James Street at the Episcopal Church.
In the renovation pictures you can see continued progress in the “new” house, with work beginning to move inside. The kitchen cabinet guy took his final measurements this week and the continued perfect weather has helped the carpenters and the crew working outside.
Finally, the perfunctory food photos just to prove I am taking good care of the preacher!

I know it sounds cliché, but once again I am astounded at how quickly this month is rolling by. Blessings abound; challenges continue to present themselves; great progress is made on some fronts and on others not so much; the people of this community never cease to impress me with their generous and open spirits; the seasons come and go….
And in everything, we know that as Paul wrote in Philippians, “God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus.”
