A Palette of Infinite Possibility

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. – 2 Corinthians 4:6

Sunday evening I was reminded that I do not always have to be down by the river at sunrise to witness such beauty in the sky that I can’t help but catch my breath.

Rebekah and I were riding over to Scotland Neck with our friends Jerome and Lindy, and the late afternoon sky just burst into color. There, over the open fields, looking west from 258 with the trees silhouetted against the light.

There is a unique architecture to a cold winter sky, juxtaposed with the flat open landscape of Eastern North Carolina, with wispy cloud formations criss-crossed by contrails from jets that are now likely hundreds of miles away, and a sun falling precipitously over the western horizon as the earth spins on its axis while hurtling through space.

Life is a palette of infinite possibility

Four photographs just minutes apart show the amazing variety of color and texture. The sky is a palette of infinite possibility.

Kind of like we are, come to think of it. I like the idea: Life is a palette of infinite possibility. Of course it helps if we are connected to the author of possibility, the Creator of life itself.

Happy Monday, friends, let’s get busy engaging the possibilities – DEREK
