Not so much awake as awACHE!

– Thursday morning

He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion… – Psalm 40:29-31

Yesterday was one of those move a lot of heavy stuff then spend too much time trying to assemble a new bed days. So this morning I didn’t wake up so much as wache up!

But the best response is going to be get more done… carefully. Because the sooner we get enough stuff into the new house and unpacked to tip the balance, then we will start sleeping there and eating there and feeling more at home.

To be honest, I’m not even sure any more what we have out in the storage unit. There’s stuff I’m hoping I put there because I can’t find it where we’re living and it didn’t come on the moving truck. And there’s also stuff I hope we never find because we should have got rid of it before we left Wake Forest.

So yesterday morning a couple of my friends – Steve and David – helped shuttle a bunch of heavy stuff and boxes. Then I spent the afternoon fighting random bed parts with obscure instructions.

We rounded out the day with my official birthday dinner over at the Jack’s at Rocky Mount Mills. We had lump-crab dip for appetizer, Rebekah chose the lobster and scallops on risotto and I enjoyed an amazing parmesan-encrusted sea-bass on creamy fettuccine Alfredo with oysters. We then barely managed sharing a small piece of lemon cake for dessert.

Overall a good day. But still so very much to do. My Photo-Friday collection tries to tell the story.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint. – Psalm 40:30-31

Peace, blessings and love – DEREK
