Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Today’s post is directed to everyone here in Tarboro. If you love this town then this absolutely should be important.
We are a wonderful community, but there are still people who fall through the cracks, and it benefits all of us when we support the organizations that do so much to help.
Tarboro Community Outreach:
Saturday morning around 8:00, scores of good people showed up at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church for the annual community TCO 5-K, organized to raise funds for the important work of Tarboro Community Outreach – first organized through the leadership of local Presbyterians.
This year featured running, walking, standing around(!) and a brand-new slot for some serious looking cyclists who did the course twice to finish 10-K and still come in ahead of the fastest runners.
The event was a success, likely raising more than $10,000 for TCO, but we would love to see more than twice as many participants and easily pass $25,000.
I know this community has more than enough heart and goodness and compassion to make events like this totally rock! That and a lot of fun thrown in for good measure.
To me, this kind of initiative is a measure of a community like ours. A beautiful and historic town, always a lot of amazing stuff going on, the perfect location for enjoying outdoor events such as running and cycling, and so many good people with hearts of compassion going the extra mile (or at least 5-10K) for those who need a hand up.
Peace and blessings, always – DEREK
