Resurrection is just the beginning!

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you…?” – Luke 24

Saturday Rebekah and I continued our work inside the house – making progress, just a little at a time, and then we spent several hours in the front yard – digging and planting and doing the best we can to at least begin to make a difference.

Working in the garden (or, more properly, the space we hope turns into a garden at some point) led to us making our first ever visit to Tractor Supply (a very cool place, by the way), where we picked up mulch and pine-straw and ideas for ground-cover.

Then, after supper, I opened another one of those “follow the simple 53-page book of instructions” projects; this time a tall cupboard for the guest bathroom. If I was looking for a new standard for “most outrageously complex and confusing” then I was not disappointed.

This is such a cool house. Absolutely worthy of all the extra investment of time and energy. Although the energy part may be a bit of a challenge!

And the garden, too, holds such promise. Of course anything we do is making a huge difference because it was such a complete wasteland before!

So Rebekah and I will attend worship this morning tired but with full hearts. Last week was Easter Sunday – but resurrection is just the beginning of this part of the story. Now we get to live into all that restoration and reconciliation makes possible.

A lot like Saint Patrick Street. There is gardening still to be done in my soul, and so much more to live into because of all that Easter and new life has set into motion.

Keep watching this space – there is still (and always) so much to share – DEREK
