“Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.” — Yogi Berra
Saturday here in Tarboro, North Carolina was an all-around great day. Cooler temperatures, gardening all morning, golf in the afternoon and River Bandits baseball in the evening.
Later, when I walked Max at 10:00, the temperatures were down to around 70-degrees and refreshing. After the past eight weeks or so of oppressive heat, a little refreshing goes down very nicely.
This time I took my Nikon to the game, so I could grab a set of images that help to tell the story with a little more of the action (Pictures 16 through 19, for example, document the big home run, the dugout emptying and then the hitter’s arrival at home plate).
Saturday evening’s story was, essentially, the same as Tuesday’s (Small Town, Hot Night) only this time with even more people in attendance. And, once again, the story is less about baseball and more about community, and summer in Eastern North Carolina, and fun, and this shared sense of what is important.
I have included some great action shots this time around. So enjoy – it’s good to be a River Bandit right now! – DEREK
