May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. – 2 Corinthians 13:14
Walking Max Saturday evening, wrapped up in my jacket and enjoying the cool fall air, I looped back down Saint James Street from Saint Andrew and couldn’t help but notice how Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church stands as such a beautiful light to this community.
We do a good job of taking care of the building and the serene churchyard, and I know Tarboro appreciates HMPC’s contribution to the downtown aesthetic. But the light coming from the inside is more beautiful still.
This church is not a monument to a historic religion but a testament to the living God. The monuments are out in the churchyard; the life is in the sanctuary – and it gives more light to this community than it is possible to account for in any way other than Jesus!
The church is not a monument to a historic religion but a testament to the living God.
This call to join us for 11:00 worship is our invitation to add your light to ours and together we can shine a little more brightly. Come for the bread and the wine of communion, and the light and the love of the presence of God.
Then let’s take it all and share it with our community – DEREK

[…] Not a monument to religion but a testament to the living God […]
Amen! Sometimes we fail to appreciate the ecclesiastical buildings we have in different parts of over the world. But when we stop and truly reflect on their beauty and purpose, what a privilege it is to know the One for Whom they exist. God bless you 🙂
Thanks! I pray that your worship this morning is full with grace and truth.
[…] I’d like to offer a short post about communion. This will fit in nicely as a supplement to Sunday morning’s “Not a monument to religion but a testament to the Living God.” […]
