Photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

From Florida to North Carolina, this week’s Photo Friday comprises an interesting set of images.
My first inclination was to use just the one, the above silhouette taken from the Church Street parking lot, showing the back of our house with the kitchen light on and the church spire farther down Saint Patrick Street putting the scene into context. It seems like enough for a story.
Then I thought about just how much happens in a single week, about how rich and varied life is. From packing up in the Winter Garden neighborhood that our daughter is leaving, to the long drive home, to studying Romans 8 and sharing with the guys, to watching the flowers grow, to checking out the progress down at Riverfront Park, to putting the finishing touches on my new book.
As to the new book, I am very excited. I plan to share more about this project in the next couple of weeks, but we are close enough to a release date that I believe generating a little buzz now is perfectly in order.
Again, and I say this almost every time I share a series of pictures like this, let’s all keep our eyes open and keep our hearts open too. There is so much to see and to learn and to be grateful for.
Prayerful observation always leads to a grateful heart – DEREK
