“Best Day Ever” at Hershey Park

“If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.”

Dr. Suess

DATELINE: HERSHEY, PA – Thursday was “indulge the kids at Hershey Park” day. To say it went well is an understatement. Both David and Beks insist this was the best theme park visit ever, and Geoffrey was able to enjoy enough kids’ rides to stay happily engaged all day.

I even found a couple of attractions I could ride! I don’t (can’t) do roller-coasters, and Rebekah and I spent most of the day hauling Geoffrey around to his activities. But I did really enjoy doing a half-dozen train rides with him and we had a blast driving the bumper cars together probably another five or six times.

About the bumper cars! First, I had forgotten just how fast they go and how much force is involved in some of the collisions. It may have been my foot on the accelerator pedal, but I let Geoffrey handle the steering 90% of the time – and I have a couple of seriously bruised ribs to show for it!

We had a series of collisions with one particular man.

  • “I think you were trying to run into me,” he laughed.
  • “I bumpered you multiple times,” Geoffrey responded with a grin.

Now that is a great five-year-old vocabulary!

I am absolutely too tired to write any more this evening and we plan to hit the road early, so here are a few photographs from our great day with the grandchildren at Hershey Park.

Stay tuned for more updates daily. The Great Adventure continues.

Peace and blessings – DEREK
