“Peace be with you” as Tarboro’s fall colors come out

Peace be with you, dear brothers and sisters, and may God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness. May God’s grace be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:23-24
– leaving the polls in Tarboro

Other than the vagaries of the national mood in politics, which is of course a noisy and emotional subject these days, the atmosphere here in Tarboro is very much draped in the gorgeous colors of fall.

And, as a small historic southern town with an extensive historic district, I would say that these colors suit our neighborhood very well.

When Rebekah and I walked to the polls Tuesday, less than two blocks down the street, we passed this spectacular splash of maple across from Howard Memorial.

The other photographs were taken along Saint James and Church Street, finishing up back at Maul-Hall where we now have – I am sure you have noticed – a car back in the driveway for the first time since the spring.

I will continue to document the colors as they emerge – slowly this year because the temperatures have been persistently above statistical norms – and I also plan to share the completed hardscape project once the final “tidy-up” details are finished.

In the meantime, listen to these words of benediction from the Apostle Paul, and I believe this is especially on point given the politics of the day: “Peace be with you, dear brothers and sisters, and may God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness. May God’s grace be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

The fortunes of people may change and the tides of politics shift every which way… but the word of our God will stand forever.

In love – DEREK
