The day after Thanksgiving in a dozen photographs (because the computer ate my words)

Friday was a good day. Then, in the evening, I wrote an interesting post featuring my niece Hannah and her family, my afternoon at "The Ravenous Pig" in Winter Park, watching The World Cup with another niece (Lindsay) and her fiancé Johnny, some cool images from my drive through downtown Orlando and then Mexican food …

Confidential for writers: What is the Point?

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. A branch can’t produce fruit by itself, but must remain in the vine. Likewise, you can’t produce fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, then you will produce much fruit. Without …

Coming Out… (as a food blogger)!

Okay, so I'll admit it: views, likes, and shares are important. I could insist that this space is exclusively about sharing the Good News, or the privilege of influencing more people in terms of how they think, but - even though both points are absolutely true - I confess there is a little ego somewhere …

Maybe at the top of my Bucket List…

So what are we going to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?But in all these things we win a sweeping victory through the one who loved us. I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or …

When the words won’t come – and a prayer for America

The Jesus Imperative (live like you mean it)

"The words that I speak to you aren’t mere words. I don’t just make them up on my own. The Father who resides in me crafts each word into a divine act." - Jesus, John 14:10 - author Derek Maul It's an interesting sensation to know that tens, hundreds, possibly thousands of people are reading …

The number “One Million”, data, statistics, “reach”, and real people

The whole wide earth is full with your faithful love, God, teach me your ways! - Psalm 119:64 (paraphrase) - image from the web Numbers are both intimidating and curious - especially if you are a language-arts person like me who gets uncomfortable around much beyond 3rd-grade math. But, increasingly, numbers - primarily zeros and …

The new future for this blog (I’m kind of a crying stone)

My bottom line here has not changed from when I first started. I want to communicate, clearly, a sense of the adventure that my life has become in response to following Jesus. And in so doing I want to encourage those of you who are reading to accept God's invitation too.

Called to be Oaks of Righteousness #MensMinistry

we have a small group of men with the opportunity to become the beating heart of a new spiritual purposefulness for men in their home church. We all understand we must stand for something; maybe these men are being called to stand as something: "oaks of righteousness, planted by the Lord that he may be honored."

Four-photo Friday (devotional images)

I'm starting with a less than flattering self portrait - but it tells a lot about my work in recent weeks. An editor I enjoyed writing for several years ago (in Florida) contacted me recently to see if I was available for some freelance work. "But I'm in North Carolina now," I said. "Not a …
