Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
Philippians 2:3-4
This is me having to admit that even my most faithful readers (that’s you) would rather see photos of our beautiful grandchildren than read my more serious devotional content!
Our daughter, Naomi, has made today’s photo-dump especially easy for me by taking and sharing these wonderful photographs. David (11) just received his Order of the Arrow as a Boy Scout. Beks (9) is always her beautiful self. Geoffrey (27-months) is still redefining cute.
But don’t worry, friends, I totally understand your need for photos and I don’t intend to give up on you! I absolutely understand that, right now, scrolling and reading on the Internet has become dark and burdensome, what with all the negativity and rancor and lies, to the extent that readers are either sucked into the vortex of sensationalism or revert to mini videos of cute cats and whatever else catches your fancy.
Meanwhile, content that inspires, and encourages, and tells both the truth and the good news (blogs like this one) is left largely unread and unshared.
Hence today’s grandchild boost. You’re welcome.
However, and while I have your attention, please do plan to check in (here at DerekMaul.blog) for daily posts that talk about living authentic faith in the normal, average, day-to-day of real life.
Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.
Philippians 2:1-5
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
So why fight it?
I will continue to write because this is my morning devotional discipline.
Additionally, what I share here warms up my writing engine for my other work, assignments editors are waiting for later in the day. Also, I believe that what I have to share is important because I have good news and encouragement that the world need today more than ever.
In love, and because of love – DEREK
