Teenagers + passion + faith + life = a bright future

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. – 1 Timothy 4:11-13

If you have any doubts about this world, own any cynicism regarding the future, or carry any fear as to what’s next… then hang around some of the young people from our church. They give me hope: they are good kids, they have a lot of love to share, and they care deeply about being faithful followers of Jesus.

This Sunday our teens were responsible for both worship services. They did everything with excellence – singing, speaking, reading scripture, and praying; they spoke from their hearts, sharing stories of inspiration and grace. But more than anything it is the sheer presence of them that’s such an inspiration. They don’t just show up for “Youth Sunday,” they are integral to the day-to-day life of our community.

The best way I can communicate the impact these teens have on our church is to post these few photographs from Sunday morning. Some are from 9:00, some from 11:15. What’s consistent is the vibrant life, and – of course – such life is contagious.

Personally, I don’t know how anyone could witness a Sunday morning like this and not feel compelled to take their faith more seriously and to practice loving out loud with as much commitment and passion as our young people.

Like the rest of us, the Wake Forest Presbyterian youth are very much a “work in progress.” But what a work God is doing! Take a look for yourselves. I believe you will agree.

Grateful – DEREK
