Lord, our Lord, how majestic
Psalm 8
is your name throughout the earth!
You made your glory higher than heaven!
From the mouths of children and infants
you have laid a strong foundation
because of your foes,
in order to stop vengeful enemies.
When I look up at your skies,
at what your fingers made—
the moon and the stars
that you set firmly in place—
We don’t get a lot of snow here in Wake Forest. Maybe a couple of times a year, then usually 24-36 hours and it’s gone. So I have to get out early in the morning to get anything on my camera. Fortunately, Max Retriever thinks walking in the snow is the best thing ever.
Today it was 20-degrees at 7:30, having snowed maybe a couple of inches overnight. I love the way color seems to be exaggerated when the light first begins to pour over the horizon. It is days like this I think seriously about learning how to paint with watercolors. The scene, above, taken as we walked through the park, would be the perfect place to begin.
It is quiet, too, after a snowfall. Meditative. Thoughtful. Rebekah and I always have a time of prayer and reading together at breakfast, but my personal devotions typically happen when I am out walking. Today certainly provided a clear context in terms of connecting with the eternal.
So enjoy these few images. I will be back later in the day to share some of the show the birds put on while we were eating breakfast.
Peace and blessings – always – DEREK
