“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart, and head.”
Henri Cartier-Bresson
First, thanks to shotkit.com for today’s photography quotes. It’s kind of funny that photographers end up having to use words to talk about their work!
This morning I have a 10-photo treat for the end of the week. Well, at least I think it is. So let’s start with this classic (above) “under the rainbow” from Orlando, where our daughter Naomi always seems to have her eyes open and her kids on hand ready for a great photographic essay.
I won’t write more about the grandchildren today, I will just let these photos tell the story – then one more “can’t miss” image in the slide gallery at the end. Having the three-year-old Geoffrey in the mix certainly has added some bounce to the visuals!
Should be a watercolor!
Sunday afternoon, after the C.S. Lewis play, there were some more great photo-ops outside, followed by a wonderful meal at the most excellent 42nd-Street Oyster Bar (the food photo in the gallery captures the amazing and authentic Italian seafood stew I enjoyed).
This picture is one of my favorites, and certainly the most “artsy.” It features our friends Faye and Jerry, walking into the tall avenue of trees and then buildings in downtown Raleigh. I think it would make a great watercolor painting… if I ever learned how to do such a thing!
Then – in the collection at the end – you will find more of my frequent and reoccurring Tar River picture collection. I know I have to find some alternate angles to view the water, but this riverfront parkway is so convenient for my morning walks with Max and the Tar never looks the same two days in a row (a fact that is demonstrated by the third of the river photos, taken this morning, as the water has surged another few feet and once again beginning to spill over the banks).
The last image in the Photo Friday mix is my little VW Golf, parked in front of our friends’ home. I took it to send to our son, Andrew, who gave me the car several years ago. I told him I grabbed the photograph so we could see what Golf looks like in a fancy neighborhood! It is still doing very well for a 2012 model that’s pushing close to 150K miles on the clock.
Enjoy the balance of the pictures. I will wrap this with one more photography quote that resonated with my spirit:
“God creates the beauty. My camera and I are a witness.”
Mark Denman

Darling pictures! The one with the rainbow reminds me of the 10 of Cups Tarot card that also has a picture of a family under a rainbow and the Tarot card means family being together. The Tarot cards are a Catholic invention but somehow ended up being a part of witchcraft. Sincerely, ALASUN🌞
