“Snow brings a special quality with it — the power to stop life as you know it dead in its tracks.” — Nancy Hatch Woodward
Sure, snow can be messy and cold and get in the way of some of our plans… but then there is this. Look how beautiful!
Tarboro’s historic district always looks inviting, but add a dusting of snow and this place is magical.
It’s a short tour, as my fingers quickly got cold and did not want to work the camera any more. Of course there are several photos of our church, Howard Memorial Presbyterian, but then I walked over to Calvary Episcopal and managed to capture a few photographs through the mass of trees in the churchyard.
Not a bad collection of images for only walking up and down a hundred yards of East Saint James, less than half a block on Saint Patrick, and a few feet of Saint John.
I love the quote from Nancy Hatch Woodward, above, who is quite right that snow stops everything dead in its tracks.
But it is a welcome pause. Especially when the quiet is grateful and aware of the tremendous blessings of this good life.
Yes, we are all concerned about many things, and all too aware of the fragility of life as we know it in this fraught political and cultural moment. At the same time I believe in our will as a people to thrive, in the integrity of our constitution, and in the grace of God, who is the foundation and the fulfillment of both freedom and promise.
