The Long, Hot Heart of Summer: August in 31 Photographs

– over 300 miles in August

“One doesn’t stop seeing. One doesn’t stop framing. It doesn’t turn off and turn on. It’s on all the time.”

August is not a hard story to tell. I could say, “Hot, humid and a lot of bike riding” and that would just about cover it.

Then one August highlight we always enjoy is celebrating the epic journey that is our beautiful marriage – this year marked 47.

Along the way – and getting stronger – I logged 303 miles on my road bike while managing to set several personal bests for every distance up through 40-miles.

In terms of writing, this past month saw a lot of good progress on my new book as well as significant growth in my reading audience for this blog.

Overall, August was a good month. But I am more than ready to begin to see the end of summer and, hopefully, the beginnings of fall over the next few weeks. And, also, the conclusion of this never-ending front-yard landscaping project!

Whatever happens, you can be sure to hear about it, read about it, and see photographs right here at DerekMaul.blog.

Peace and blessings, always – DEREK
