meet in the street

DATELINE – WAKE FOREST: May 2nd; on a clear and perfect morning; 65-degrees; the three main downtown streets roped off; every activity imaginable; arts and crafts; music; food trucks; churches; civic organizations; friendly police officers; throw in several thousands of people, all friendly too… What have you got? Meet in the Street – Wake Forest, that’s what.

IMG_9731Is this a cool community or what? Not only great times and great people, but WFPC members all over the place. This town is thick with them.

Even two of the food trucks. Deb Keller’s Cousin’s Maine Lobster, and Rowland Boksleitner’s Sweet Traditions Cupcakes (conveniently parked opposite one another) were owned and operated by folk from WFPC.

But the real point of today’s post is how great it is to live in community. Not just to know people, but to love them, and to know that they love you in return.

Rebekah and I hiked the mile to the Wake Forest town center; we walked around, talking with people and generally enjoying the atmosphere; then we hiked home again, to get ready for a big wedding with more people, more good people who we have come to love.

IMG_9711This is a good place, both the church and the community; a good place, full with such great people. We are blessed beyond measure – DEREK

How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!
It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore.Psalm 133

  1. We went to Meet in the Street and the Lobster line was so long-couldn’t wait. Where in the area can we find this wonderful food truck? Vacationed in Maine for several years and miss the lobster!!

  2. Thank you Derek for your tremendous support!

What an amazing weekend. The Raleigh FT Rodeo was triple the lines. Crazy, and unbelievable.

Love, Deb Decide who you want to be, not what you are going to do and ripple positively ~
