From love to hate: all the extremes – #5PhotoFriday

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” – John 13:34-35

This is a quick post because I’m doing my parents’ taxes today. So much of my 5-Photo-Friday content is going to be just a couple of sentences.

Terror at the Mosque:

downloadI hope we are all still stunned when we hear of horrors such as this. I may well write about this later, but this image is one I cannot let go.

Hate – unfortunately, tragically – has become so marketable in today’s world that it made perfect sense for this man to Livestream his “_____ __________” (I honestly cannot find the words that work here).

Encouragement at Church:

You can read more about Rebekah’s out-of-town preaching invitation in Monday’s post, Be Fruitful, Shine the Light, Share the Love. I love this photograph because it speaks to the huge statement the presence of a church can make in a community.

Jesus was very clear when he pointed out that our calling card as his followers must be radical love.

I will let the other pictures essentially speak for themselves, because I have run out of time!

  • There is Rebekah serenading me with her ukulele lessons while I cook (more here).
  • There is the moment I almost spent money on clothes (don’t worry, I didn’t).
  • Then there is the challenge of growing old when you are a Labradoodle who is used to bouncing.

Peace, and so much more, in a world that needs to hear a clear voice of love from the followers of Jesus – DEREK
