Morning Light in Wake Forest

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Matthew 5:14-16

Happy Saturday, friends! My gift to you today is this series of photographs taken in the early morning, just before my Saturday men’s group met at WFPC.

I have shared photographs from the beautiful campus at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church before, but not from this perspective and at this time of the day.

Of course, while we were drinking coffee, munching Almond Kringle, sitting in folding chairs, and relaxing in deep conversation at the southwest corner of the property, over in the northeast corner many more people were working hard in the community garden!

My group had a really insightful conversation around Christ’s words about salt and light in Matthew 5. I may write more about that later, but for now I’m simply going to share some photographs of the light.

If we can only begin to reflect the Creator’s light more effectively, and to allow God to turn us into light-generating sources ourselves… Then wouldn’t that be some more sunrise around Wake Forest?

Peace – and light – DEREK
