We are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives.
Ephesians 2:10
Rebekah made a great point yesterday, right after viewing my collection of photographs from Dry Falls. “You are telling the story in pictures,” she said, “and they are just about as good as your words.”
I’m not sure that the writer in me really likes that. I’d prefer than my photographs merely “help” me tell the story; but I still identify – first – as a writer.
However, and this is important, listening to my answer helped me a lot. I tend to think out loud; sometimes it gets me into trouble, but this time it was nothing but clarifying.
“I’ve been thinking about the point of my blog,” I said. “The reason I write at all is about – essentially – two things. First, I write because this space is my own personal journal, it’s the record of my life. And then I write because I want to share the good news. If I can do that, and encourage people along the way, then I have achieved my goal as a blogger.”
I need to understand that photographs (from the Plott Balsam Overlook, on the way there, to the lookout on top of the mountain) can be critically important when it comes to telling the story. In other words, if the images I share serve to advance my goal of encouraging, of sharing the good news, of making a record of this wonderful life, then all is good.
So enjoy. It is obvious – if you “read” the photographs – that the children most certainly did – DEREK
